The xenon trance – it opens new opportunities for a psychotherapy of opioid dependence
In case of opioid dependence we can clearly see that practically all the basic structural elements of thinking (sensation, perception, concept, representations) get a deformed, distorted nature. Interpretation of reality, interpretation of an occurring event, self-estimation become inadequate. Disturbances are found at a formal, logic level. Thereby both sensual-image component of thinking and interpretive one suffer.
The dominant structure of the drug idea gets more and more pathological affect on the entire process of patient’s thinking. It is proved by impossibility of simple psychological correction (especially – fast one) of all formed judgments and drug addict’s conclusions which have become not simply his views, but his outlook generated on the basis of new "curved" logic when the pathological state becomes a sense of psychic life of the patient and it "is materialized" through mental activity and behaviour. « Mind’s dream » gives rise to automated mental life and automated (addictive) behaviour.
Physicians of doctor N.V. Klimchenko’s clinic for the first time in an addictology, alongside with active, pathogenetic psychopharmacologic therapy, in the complex program of opioid dependence treatment have worked out and use in practice method of medical xenon trance with target video-and audio-suggestive support. Practical results of psychopathologic researches in patients receiving such combined treatment show that these patients quickly rather reach cumulative antipsychotic effect of therapy and the symptomatology of a pathological urge to a drug is arrested.
At present this group of patients continues receiving the supporting antirecurrent therapy with application of the xenon medical sleeping and opioid receptor blockers (naltrexon hydrochloride).
The results of this medical approach application once again confirm that it is possible and necessary to use xenon medical effects (neuroprotective, nootropic, anxiolytic, antidepressive, analgetic) not only at arresting an abstinent syndrome, but also its application is necessary as pathogenetic treatment, using its antipsychotic effect. The condition of the changed consciousness which is observed during the xenon trance and xenon medical properties including its antipsychotic effect, open new opportunities for carrying out of dependence psychotherapy (including cocainic one) at a qualitatively new level.
Purposive creation of the altered state of consciousness, in view of modern knowledge of brain physiology, first of all - functional asymmetry of brain hemispheres, underlies the physiologically-focused approach in psychotherapy.
In his « Domino theory » M. Ericson said that when a person copes with one problem, all the rest related to it will also be resolved.
