Literature-Memorial Museum named after Pushkin

Among the Odessa museums a special place belongs to a Literature-Memorial Museum named after Pushkin. South Palmyra piously keeps great Russian poet in its memory. Here he began writing «Eugene Onegin». In this work the author depicted forever this city at the sea and gave it a literary immortality. The hotel where the poet stayed once, in the street named after him, in building No. 13, now became a museum in his honour.

The Pushkin’s house will get you acquainted with ancient engravings, portraits of poet’s contemporaries, unique Pushkin autographs with pictures and rare editions of the author. This house disturbed imagination of all odessites. A mysterious history is related to it: in the war-time it was damaged, only its left part remained. By the legend, this was the area where Pushkin lived, and the fate protected his dwelling against barbarians. Was it so or not – it is rather difficult to verify it now, but the fleur of mystery keeps attracting to it a greater number of tourists.
